As a community of thousands of professional mums who work in marketing and across the creative industries, this partnership will bring money into the spotlight not only for MiMs, but also for families, businesses and communities beyond. For Monzo, it’s a genuinely rare opportunity: to be alongside nearly 9,000 superstars managing serious budgets for a living, and to better understand how Monzo builds for working parents in future. Below is why the two organisations decided to team up, and what it means for both sides.
Making money work for everyone
Monzo’s a fully regulated bank, known and loved for industry-first features like automated savings challenges, which help people build doable daily savings habits. Founded over a decade ago to challenge the status quo, it exists to make money work for everyone.
They’ve gone about this by pushing back against passivity, complexity and exclusivity. Instead of putting barriers between people and their money, their award-winning app gives 16 million personal customers and 1 million business customers the tools and confidence to make their money go further. Their recently launched ‘Get Busy Living’ campaign is a clear sign of that commitment, with a cracking soundtrack to boot (linked below).
Why now
The partnership lands at a pivotal moment. ‘Get Busy Living’ rings true for many of our members. They manage budgets and spending at work, in their own businesses, and in their personal lives. For families everywhere, it’s a key time to understand how money should work.Research from the University of Bath shows mothers handle 71% of all mental load tasks. Things like scheduling, budgeting and planning. 53% independently manage household finances too. That’s a duplicated admin effort, on top of everything else.
This partnership is about understanding more, so we can provide real impact, action and insight. Plans include:
● Masterclasses
● In-person events
The chance for our members to talk to a bank that genuinely wants to understand family life and money
Claire Ferreira, Founder of Mums in Marketing, said: “This is a partnership that fits with our incredible community of marketers, and brings meaningful change, this is at the heart of every conversation we have. Monzo’s ethics and ambition reflect exactly what we stand for, and us for them.
Our community are marketers who manage serious budgets every day, for other people’s brands. Incredible humans who are exceptionally good at what they do, are raising humans and leading busy lives, Monzo gets that.
What really stood out to us was Monzo’s approach to money for all, including financial education for children being core. A lot of brands say they’re thinking about the next generation. We were genuinely impressed by the plans in place to help children grow up not just knowing how to save, but how to plan. MiMs has always been about transforming this community, and increasingly reaching beyond marketing altogether, so it felt right that a well established bank should be part of that first step.”
“
“Being a parent is a privilege and a challenge at the same time. But research shows mothers often spend a disproportionate amount of time they don’t have figuring out how to make their money do more. That’s time that could, and should, be spent on literally anything else. We want to give parents that time back, while helping them feel their money’s working in the background.”
Charlotte Ford, Senior Brand, Partnerships and Content Director at Monzo.
We’ve helped people understand the power of compound interest (earning interest on your interest) by challenging them to save a little every day. We’ll bring people closer to their money by getting them paid a day early, then help them sort their salary into Pots (separate spaces in your account to set money aside) for things like bills or new hobbies.”
Get Busy Living
Monzo recently launched ‘Get Busy Living’ — their first global brand platform and largest integrated campaign to date, built around a simple idea: putting life, not banking, at the centre. It’s the same principle behind this partnership. Mums in Marketing brings a community that understands, better than most, what it takes to make money working harder while running a career and a household. Monzo brings
the tools to make that easier, so the time lost to money admin can go back to actually living.
