Globetrotter, Rubix Cube solver, and wine sharer.
Hi, Iām Jessica Williams-Chadwick,
I am employed as Digital Marketing Manager for Contented Brothers, a video production agency in London, and also (because who doesn’t love a hyphen- career?), Director at Rock Salt Consulting.
Having spent my 20s globetrotting, I had one baby in Greece and then we all moved to London and haven’t moved that much since the addition of baby number two. They are mostly lovely , sports-obsessed, demons š. I have only succumbed to one dog so far, although the youngest child is campaigning hard (she will be a great marketer).
Getting on a plane with a one-way ticket, is probably one of the bravest things I have done, well that and also pretending that I’m not scared of the ginormous spiders that are galloping around at the moment.
After a fraught return to work, in a new country, with no network, I retrained in Digital Marketing and found a great job in legal tech. I got made redundant when the company got taken over and the US hours didn’t work so well. Then not one, but two people sent me the job description for ‘Contented Brothers’ saying I’d be perfect for it. I started in December 2019. It’s been an interesting ride, our main outreach is wine tasting networking events, which we took online during the times we couldn’t meet in person.
I often say I ‘ended up’ in marketing, but it turns out to be a staggeringly good fit. Just like Douglas Adams’ puddle who believed that that hole it found itself in was made just for it. The puddle of Jess finds that writing, empathising with people and looking at data trends to help them is a fit for marketing.
Kind words that have been shared about me:
‘Jess is warm. A welcoming and supportive presence at the heart of any community she finds herself in. An instinctive marketer, she has been accidentally clever by being the right person in the right place surprisingly often. This is what companies need right now, even if they don’t know it. I’m excited to see what’s next for her and am glad I’m along for the journey.’
~Fiona McClune, Head of Sales at StructureFlow
In my ‘other skills’ I taught myself how to solve a Rubik’s cube in the second lockdown, and regularly impress 10 year olds with my not-so-hidden talent. I also love karaoke but only believe that I’m talented 3 drinks in.
I am part of MiMs Membership, and it’s the most supportive and talented group. Offering career advice, HR lifelines, tantrum soothers (for both toddlers and CEOs) and most of all – they just get it. It has been a relief to realise that I’m not alone in the uncertainty and imposter syndrome, and with their help I’m looking to have doubled my income by the end of my first year. Result!
